I am wanting to apply for this grant to be able to fund a classroom rug. This rug would serve an additional area in the room to connect students and encourage collaboration. I would be able to use this rug in all subjects taught throughout the day and it would be used for many years. The size of the rug will be able to accommodate all classes as each year the number of students is different. I attended the summer institute this past summer where a speaker shared about the purposes of a classroom rug and all the ideas that could be facilitated on it. Having students learning in different areas and being up out of their desk is something I try to incorporate in almost every lesson.
